Better yet is the heartsick blues "A Quitter Never Wins." Featuring a strong, brooding vocal by Ellis, it demonstrates how fully he and Leavell complement each other, first subtly, then with fire. The opening cut, "To the Devil for a Dime," quickly resorts to an old cliche, as Ellis considers selling his soul to the devil, but the context is contemporary and the tale convincing.
